First, I'd like to introduce myself and the company to you. I am Jeff Haven, co-owner and Journeyman Bookbinder at the Gruver Co., Inc. Founded in 1912 by Edward F. Gruver, a German immigrant, The Gruver Co. remains the oldest Library Bookbindery in the DC Metro Area. I began my apprenticeship here in 1970 when I was 19 years old. My wife and I bought the Company in 1978 and we remain the owners to present day. I have over 45 years experience in Library Bookbinding, all with The Gruver Co.

When you visit the shop, you won't find yourself in an elaborate showroom. Rather, it will be like taking a step back in time as you will see many of the original pieces of equipment which are still used today.
